ENTRY MATS EXPLAINED
Carpet-like – Smooth Surface
Excellent at wiping moisture and removing debris from shoes. These mats resemble low-pile carpeting and are available in a wide variety of widths and lengths. Ideal for spaces with busy décor, they offer a simple, clean appearance that blends rather than stands out.
Scraper Carpet-like Mats
These mats combine wiping and scraping performance. The most aggressive versions are molded with raised rubber nubs and then topped with carpet material for visual appeal. This design allows for hidden scraping action. Color options are abundant, but molded mats are limited in size. Non-molded scraper/wiper mats use a high/low textured surface for debris collection and allow for broader size availability.
Rubber Entrance Mats
Durable and weather-resistant, rubber mats are easy to maintain and ideal for outdoor use. Available in finger-style, coarse grit, and low-profile options:
- Finger mats aggressively scrape and trap rocks and dirt
- Coarse grit mats use embedded particles for multi-weather cleaning
- Low-profile scrapers are thin enough for doors with low clearance
Aluminum Frame Mats
Also known as entrance grates, these high-performance mats can be surface-mounted with beveled edges or set into recessed pits. Insert materials include nylon carpet, brush carpet, vinyl ridges, or coarse grit. Heavy-duty frames can be as deep as 4 1/8”, allowing significant debris collection and reduced cleaning needs.
Vinyl Mats
Constructed from “spaghetti” or closed-loop extruded vinyl, these mats are affordable, waterproof, and easy to hose clean. Commonly used outdoors or in wet interior areas like near water fountains.
